Happy 6th Birthday Julienne!

Julienne turned six on February 6th, despite the huge snowstorm we were having. We did have to reschedule her birthday party, as it was supposed to happen on Sunday. We knew that the snow would not allow her guests to arrive safely for fun at the Children's Museum.

Since we were not able to get our car out for Julienne to have her birthday dinner, we decided to take a walk in the snow to Sheetz to get her some hot chocolate. Our neighbors decided to join us and we all bundled up for the big walk in the snow. There were not many cars out, so it felt like an adventure for the six of us walking. Julienne enjoyed a big steamy hot chocolate in honor of her birthday. The ladies working at Sheetz even sang Happy Birthday to her!

When we arrived home, we enjoyed some Funfetti birthday cake, which she had helped to bake that morning!

She also got to open her present, which was two tickets to see Taylor Swift in concert. She was so excited. Julienne and I are going to the concert and making it into a girls night out. We will head over early in the day, shop, go out to dinner, go to the concert, and spend the night in a hotel.

Toothless

Julienne lost her very first tooth on January 25th. I am posting the video of her pulling the tooth out. It was quite comical! She is so cute with the gap in her mouth!!!

Julienne's Dance Performance

My beautiful ballerina had her first dance performance on Saturday. All of the parents of the dancers were invited to come and watch our baies perform everything they have learned in dance class. It was so precious and my daughter LOVES an audience!

Halloween Festivities

Okay, so tomorrow begins our 2008 Halloween festivities. Tomorrow night is the costume contest at the mall. I put the finishing touches on the costumes tonight. I invested way less time this year, and the costumes definitely have the homemade feel to them. I cannot really gauge how the judging might go, so I hope for the best. Tre will be a campfire, and Julienne will be his accompanying S'more. They will enter the contest as one costume entry...what's gonna work...teamwork! (Thanks Wonderpets!)

Friday, the kids will wear their Walmart chosen costumes for Trick-or-Treating. Tre has chosen an evil wizard, and Julienne has chosen a fairy. Her fairy skirt has fiber optic wire in it, and blinks when you turn it on. It is pretty cool.

Finally on Saturday is our second annual Halloween party. I have decided to be broccoli, as my costume. TJ has reverted to his old favorite..a pimp. I will post pictures after the slated events.

We got it right!

Today we got it right for dance class. Julienne was beautiful; appropriately dressed for some four year old dancing. Oh, and by the way, the mommy rules are now posted here! :-)

Tiny Dancer

Julienne began her first official dance class on Saturday. Those of you that know me, know that on occasion, I can get a little carried away with events that involve my children. For example, two years ago, Julienne took a "Creative Movement" class. I went out and bought her four different leotards, with gauzy dancing skirts. She looked so pretty! However, the other more sensible moms of the children in the class, dressed their children in normal clothing. Normal as in shorts and a t-shirt. So, I tried to learn my lesson.

Jump to Saturday. Dance class #1 at the local rec. center. I, as a sensible mother, dress my daughter in shorts and a t-shirt, throw her mass of curls into a pony tail and away we go. We get to the center, Julienne was whisked away into a small studio, with a window the size of a napkin, so parents could "peek", since we are not allowed inside the studio! So as I peek through the napkin sized window, I notice that the other girls in class, have the beautiful gauzy princessy leotards, with perfectly coiffed hair and matching ribbons/hair accesories. I then look at my daughter, in her too-tight, end of the summer shorts, t-shirt, and messy, took one second pony tail and know that I have failed her! Where are the mommy rules posted? How was I to know that this new class was now the appropriate venue for extreme dance attire?

Needless to say, I felt very bad for the 45 minute class, knowing that my poor daughter must be humiliated amidst the other dancers, since she was wearing regular clothes!!! ;-) I agonized over the years in therapy that she will spend working through her issues over the first day of dance class! So after the twirling and tutu wearing was finished, we ventured off to Target to buy some new dancewear. Next week, she will be the shiniest, gauziest dancer of them all! Even if she outsizes the other four years olds by at least 20 pounds, and four inches in height. She will have the dancing foundations for a career as a dancer and a sumo wrestler!
